ApniLaw

Terms of Use

Effective 25 October 2026. ApniLaw AI is in beta, and this page may change.

These terms are an agreement between you and ApniLaw, operated by Innovik, a partnership firm (“we”, “us”), for the use of ApniLaw AI at ai.apnilaw.com (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Service. Please also read the Privacy Policy and the Disclaimer and sources, which form part of these terms.

1. Who may use the Service

  • The Service is for lawyers, law students and legal professionals who are 18 or over and can enter a binding contract.
  • Access is by invitation during the beta. We may refuse, limit or end access to anyone, and may change or withdraw features at any time.
  • If you use the Service for an organisation, you confirm you may bind it.

2. Your account

  • Give accurate details and keep your password secret. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
  • One person, one account. Do not share your account or sell or pass on your invite.

3. What the Service is, and what it is not

The Service is a research aid. It is not legal advice and creates no lawyer–client relationship. Answers are produced with the help of AI and software checks that can be wrong, and the collection of judgments and Acts is incomplete. You must read the original authority and verify it before you rely on, cite or advise on anything from the Service. You remain fully responsible, including under the Advocates Act, 1961 and the Bar Council of India Rules, for the advice you give and the documents you file. See the Disclaimer and sources.

4. What you may not do

  • Break the law, or use the Service to harass, defame or infringe the rights of others.
  • Upload anything you have no right to upload, or any file that is malicious. Do not upload another person’s privileged or confidential material unless you are authorised to.
  • Copy the collection in bulk, scrape the Service, or use automated means to extract its content, other than the ordinary use of your own research.
  • Attempt to get around sign-in, usage limits or any other safeguard; probe or attack the Service; or try to make the AI ignore its rules.
  • Resell the Service or present its output as an official publication or as the work of a court or government body.
  • Use the Service to build a competing database or to train an AI model.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, with notice where practicable.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of your questions, notes, drafts and uploaded documents (“your content”). You give us a limited licence to store, copy and process it, and to send the parts needed to AI providers as described in the Privacy Policy, only to run the Service for you. We do not use your content to train a model of our own, and we do not sell it. You are responsible for your content and for having the right to give us it.

6. Our content and other people’s

  • The Service, its software, design, name and logo belong to us or our licensors. These terms give you no ownership of them.
  • Judgments, Acts and case records are public documents that belong to their publishers. The judgment collection is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence; the credit and the changes we made are in the Disclaimer and sources. You may use these documents as the law allows, with the credit that licence requires.

7. Beta, availability and cost

The Service is in beta and is provided free of charge for now. It may be slow, wrong, changed or unavailable without notice, and data loading is ongoing. If we start charging, we will tell you before it applies to you, and you will not be charged without agreeing to it.

8. Limits on our liability

The Service and everything in it is provided “as is” and “as available”, without any promise that it is accurate, complete, current or fit for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of a case or opportunity, or any loss arising from your reliance on the content of the Service, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, which is nil while the Service is free. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under Indian law.

9. Indemnity

You will compensate us for loss and reasonable costs arising from a claim by a third party that your content, or your use of the Service in breach of these terms, infringes their rights or breaks the law.

10. Ending your use

You may stop using the Service at any time and ask us to close your account and delete your data (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or end the Service or your access. Sections that by their nature should continue (ownership, liability, indemnity, governing law) continue after the end.

11. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. We will show the new effective date at the top, and tell signed-in users of material changes. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept it.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. We would like to settle any dispute by talking first: write to us. If that does not work, the courts in New Delhi have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any right you have by law to go to another court.

13. General

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our not enforcing a term at once does not waive it. These terms, with the Privacy Policy and the Disclaimer, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
