Disclaimer and sources
Effective 25 October 2026. ApniLaw AI is in beta, and this page may change.
1. A research tool, not legal advice
ApniLaw AI helps lawyers and legal researchers find and read Indian judgments, Acts and court case records. It is not a law firm, it does not give legal advice, and using it does not create a lawyer–client relationship between you and ApniLaw, Innovik or anyone connected with them. If you are not a lawyer, please consult one before acting on anything you read here.
2. Check every authority against the original
- Every point in an answer is linked to the passage of a stored judgment or Act it rests on, and the product checks whether that passage supports the point. These checks are made by software, including an AI model, and they can be wrong. A point marked as supported is not a guarantee.
- You are responsible for reading the original judgment or Act and confirming it before you rely on it, cite it or advise on it. Each judgment links to the court’s own document where one is available.
- A decision may have been overruled, distinguished, stayed, reviewed or superseded by an amendment. ApniLaw AI does not check this, and says so in its answers. Always check the current position.
3. AI-written text can be mistaken
Answers, summaries, follow-up question suggestions and the “Our view” assessment are written with the help of AI language models. They may be incomplete, misread a passage, or miss a relevant authority. “Our view” is cautious analysis of the authorities that were found; it is not a prediction of how any court will decide, not a statement of the chances of success, and not advice on what you should do. When the research does not support an answer, the product is designed to say so rather than guess.
4. Coverage and accuracy of the data
- The collection is not complete. Some courts, years, orders and Acts are missing, and loading is continuing. The absence of a result does not mean no authority exists.
- Judgment and Act text is extracted from PDFs by software, cleaned and split into paragraphs. Scanning, formatting and extraction can introduce errors, missing words, wrong paragraph numbers or misplaced page numbers. Margin notes, letters and old scans may be read poorly or not at all.
- Court case records (parties, status, stage, hearing dates) are a snapshot taken from the eCourts services on the date shown and may be out of date. They are not judgments.
- Pages from the web, when web search is used, are not court records and are unverified. Answers that rest on them say so.
- ApniLaw AI is not an official publication and is not connected with, endorsed by or authorised by any court, government body or the eCourts project.
5. Your documents and facts
Answers about a document you upload are based on the text that could be read from it, which may be only part of the document. Statements about your matter are based only on what you told the product. Please do not rely on a summary of a document in place of reading it.
6. Sources and credit
- Judgments of the Supreme Court of India and the High Courts. Indian Supreme Court Judgments and Indian High Court Judgments, managed by Dattam Labs and sourced from the eCourts judgments services, made available through AWS Open Data under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0). “Indian High Court Judgments was accessed in October 2026 from registry.opendata.aws/indian-high-court-judgments.” Changes made by ApniLaw: text was extracted from the original PDFs, cleaned, divided into numbered paragraphs, and indexed for search; spelling and spacing errors from extraction are repaired by rule where possible. The original documents are the court’s own.
- Acts and sections. Central and State Acts published on India Code (indiacode.nic.in), taken from a public mirror of that collection, with the text extracted and divided into sections.
- Court case records. Case information from the eCourts services (ecourts.gov.in), as a snapshot.
- Web pages. When web search is used, the page and address of each result are shown with the answer; these remain the work of their owners.
Judgments, Acts and case records are public documents. If you believe something shown here should be corrected or taken down, write to info@apnilaw.com and we will look at it.
